Neither here nor there ✨

72 hours. That’s the time it took me – door to door – to arrive from Adelaide to New York City. Four flights. A couple of overnight hotels. And just one too many screaming babies in my ear. Fellow Aussies, why do we do this to ourselves? I can think of three reasons. 1. Because we live in the middle of nowhere 😅 2. Because Aussies are somehow hardwired to travel. 3. Because there’s something incredible about long trips... especially if you’re travelling alone. The longer, the better. Here’s what I mean. For a lot of us, life never slows down. We’re hyper-connected – at least digitally – and constantly focused on whatever needs to happen next. But when I’m in the air, something flips. I’m neither here nor there. I don’t know what time it is. I don’t know what day it is. I don’t even know if I’m supposed to be awake, asleep, or somewhere in between. And with this comes a new perspective. Some might call this a liminal space ✨ Those physical or psychological “in-between” places where our usual sense of time begins to dissolve. And for me, this is where my best clarity emerges. It certainly has over the past 72 hours. I feel… realigned.

Liminal spaces take us out of the chaos and into stillness. Out of thinking, and into feeling. And often, out of our heads, and into our hearts.

Of course, we can’t live in these spaces. Life needs to be lived. But I’ve learned to deeply appreciate what they offer. Random hotel rooms. Spontaneous road trips. And yes, those absurdly long flight itineraries. Time for who we’re becoming… ...to integrate with where we’ve been. Where might you encounter your next liminal space? And what might it uncover? Well, these are today’s jet-lagged musings. Time for a NYC wander. An exciting month ahead – I’ll keep you posted on what I get up to next week.

Keep feeling,
Nathan
