Strange new lenses π
Let's see if my fancy new email software can get your name right this week :) Hope your Tuesday is off to a good start, and if you're in Australia, that the long weekend was well spent. Writing to you this morning from ThincLab at Adelaide University β what a great bunch of people who always feel like a second family. This week I'll be leading a three-hour workshop for ThincSeed, the University's pre-accelerator program for ventures seeking investment. Can't wait to kick off the program and share some strategies on the psychology of motivation. I'm also rocking some new glasses this week β old man Nath has left single vision lenses behind, and taken the leap into the world of multifocals. But what a steep learning curve for my aging eyesβ¦ These new lenses have got me stumbling down the street like a drunk man sleepwalking π But apparently it takes a bit of time for our brain to adjust. We just need to sit with the discomfort. And that's gotten me thinking about the flexibility of our minds in general, and the way we see the world in a more figurative sense. New perspectives aren't always comfortable. And when we try on a new point of view, it can feel super weird. Repulsive, even.
Yet with openness and a bit of determination, our minds are pliable enough to shift the way we comprehend the world around us. Both biologically, and psychologically.
How are you seeing the world this week? With myopia, or with curiosity? And what new lenses might you want to try on today? Yes, it's often uncomfortable. But the result? Better vision. We just need stick with it π Hope it's a great week ahead. I'll drop you a note next week.
Keep feeling,
Nathan
